Arena Fries it up with Zero Trans Fat

RBC CENTER & VAB CATERING TAKE THE FAT OUT

Chris Diamond, Director of Food & Beverage for VAB Catering at the RBC Center, today announced that the arena has voluntarily changed the way all foods are fried at the RBC Center. Zero trans fat oil is now being used building-wide, including concession stands, the Arena Club Restaurant, suites, and within the catering department.

“As a market trend and a mandatory process in cities around the country, we took the forward-thinking approach,” said Diamond. “We started to gradually change the building over to the healthier option of frying foods towards the end of last year’s season. As of September 1, 2007 all of our kitchen fryers were converted to zero trans fat oil.”

The zero trans fat oil product now being used is Bunge North America brand, Amaizing Fry NT – made of a clear blend of corn and high oleic canola oils. The conversion did not compromise the quality of the food as it produces great looking, great tasting fried foods. Other than the zero grams of trans fat, the zero trans fat oil has a low saturated fat level, outstanding quality, and no hydrogenation.

As the hockey season gets underway, the RBC Center will also feature concession stands with healthier alternatives such as the new Market Place stands located at sections 126 & 314. These stands will feature items such as hot soups, fresh panini sandwiches, sushi, a variety of fresh salads and more.

“We are proud to offer a more diverse selection of menu items at our numerous concession stands and food vendors,” said Dave Olsen, RBC Center’s Vice President and General Manager. “Our guests requested healthier food options, and we are now equipped to deliver.”
